I don't take fortunes from cookies seriously and see them only as something fun that will keep you occupied while you finish your sugary, vanilla, dessert. I got this one today and thought it was worth sharing.

"Your curiosity will lead you to great achievements."

When I work from home I usually work on the dining room table because it offers a view into the back yard and has great lighting during the day.  As I looked outside today I was reminded of my childhood when my brother and I would spend an entire day back there.

We don't have the largest backyard when you look at it now as an adult, but I remember as a child, going back there was like going into a jungle, or a forest, or a baseball stadium, or a soccer field, or a war zone, or wherever our imagination would bring us that day.

When I read this fortune, it reminded me of my childhood and how my curiosity as a child would lead me to places only my imagination could take me.  Crawling under bushes, building a fort behind the tool shed, hiding by the trees, laying in the grass, all such simple things but could fill the imagination or the curiosity of a child for entire days.

As we grow older something happens in between where we become too cool for curiosity.  We stop digging through old crates, climbing trees, looking at different insects, and running through the field like we were escaping an enemy base.  We stop because we become afraid of the results.  We become afraid of rejection and sometimes we become afraid of discovering truth.

I want to encourage you to become curious again.  To have that child-like faith and curiosity that drives you to do things with no disregard for the results.  To dig, to run, hide, jump, and climb and push your imagination to the edge.  I've found that allowing our curiosity and dreams to take off with no limits has given us the greatest achievements we could ever attain.

Be a kid again.  We can never be too old to wonder.

"Now faith is confidence in what we HOPE for and assurance about what we do not see."

When you see breaking news on TV and hear of a major natural disaster tear through a city where your best friend lives, the feeling inside you knowing they're not hurt and everything is going to be alright, that's hope.

When you stand at the side of a hospital bed holding your grandpa's hand while stopping the tears from coming because you know that no matter what happens, God is in control and everything is going to be alright, that's hope.

When you can feel your heart literally break but you continue to move forward because you know that no matter what happens everything is going to be alright, that's hope.

When you get a phone call from a childhood friend and they tell you their son just died in a car accident, and you can still smile and thank God for life rather than blame Him, that's hope.

When your daughter, cousin, best friend, classmate, or neighbor has been missing for over a month, yet you continue to spread awareness, spend all waking hours praying, putting together search groups to cover areas where she may be, and still looking forward to a new day even without her, that's hope.

Hope is the belief that circumstances in the future will be better. It's not a wish that things will get better, but an actual belief, even when there may be no evidence that anything will change.

On Saturday, March 5, 2011, Marizela Perez went missing.  Her last known location was the University District Safeway on 4732 Brooklyn Avenue NE in Seattle, where she appears on security camera video at around 2:20 PM.

It's easy to feel sorry for the family who's currently going through this terrible situation.  It's easy for people to feel no connection because we might not know Marizela.  I personally don't know her and I've known about this incident when it first happened.

While browsing online I was brought to the event page ( http://bit.ly/i9KouK ) while listening to this song, and the words described what her family must be feeling right now and for the past 5 weeks.  As a community and as people of God it's our responsibility to care for others like they were our own brother, sister, mother, or father.

Even if you don't have the resources to help, you can still hope.  Having faith that she will be found is having confidence in the hope that no matter how dark today is, there's always a chance for a brighter tomorrow.

The title of this blog is written in Tagalog meaning, "All Will Be Well."  According to Marizela's physical description, this is a tattoo on her left inner arm.

When you hope for the best, there are no negative thoughts present that could deter you from that hope.  That kind of hope brings truth to this statement that no matter what happens, all will be well.

To the Perez Family, I do not personally know any of you, but from my home to yours, we will continue to hope together.
